- Ouch: I did some bare knuckle boxing with a pedal and chain ring. Rookie mistake.

- Bike Race: The Ride Studio Cafe Endurance Team shredded the Green Mountain Double Century field and record yesterday. Shattered by about 3.5 hours. Congratulations to the team!
- Project: Talked with Chip Baker about a cyclocross project to get everyone ready for the season – as if anyone needs help getting ready.
- Time Marker: Had my first afagado of the season. Thanks Dave Nanian! Afagado: Espresso over a bit of ice cream.
- Ride: Worked on the Lex Tenex ride this evening. Mapped out a bit more of it. Great evening; a bit cold. Avoided poison ivy, I think.

Prototypes of prototypes of Seven Cycles’ ISP
ISP-ness: I’m updating Seven Cycles’ Integrated Seat Post design so it’s more versatile and a bit lighter. The new system is going to be a lot simpiler to manufacture, too. This is long overdue.
Working with Skip, Stef, Matt O., and Karl on this one. I’m looking forward to implementing this new design idea.

- Project: Susi Eckercame by the Ride Studio Cafe to work on her exhibit that opens on June 30. Great photos, cool framing. It looks like 15 pieces by her.

- Time Marker: Ride Studio Cafe’s Mechanic Superstar – Jeff Huckleberry – is about midway through it two week support of RAAM Team Liv4Life. I’m glad he’s doing it – even though it might kill everyone that’s covering for him – and we can’t wait for his return.

Graphic Design: We’re moving fast on all the posters. Today:
- Skunk’s got the road poster pretty much complete. I’m liking it; very simple black and white. Three words. Great spots from Natalia Boltukhova.
- The craft poster is just about complete, too. We just figured out how we’re going to fit ~35 employee signatures on the poster without overwhelming the image.
- Still waiting on image rights for the Mary and Mike mountain poster.
- Mo’s cross poster is ready to roll. Tweaking text.
- Helping: Seven Cycles just took delivery of 200 bicycle helmets for CYCLE Kids. That’s a lot of helmets. We’re storing them at Seven until CK needs them. We’re glad we can help with this great cause.
Project: Brochure 2013. Got some more buy in to the new brochure direction today. Not sure we’re going to be able to pull it all together in time for printing on August 1, but we’ll figure it out. This is going to be the most collaborative brochure yet. Did I mention that it’s actually going to be two brochures?

A long-time friend of Seven Cycles – and team member – Scott L. picked up his new Seven Cycles Single Speed 29er bike today. It’s a very clean and contemporary bike. Everyone in the shop wanted it. One person even took it for a quick test ride – with Scott’s blessing.
There’s a lot happening on this bike – it’s deceptively complicated for such a simple bike. Highlights include:

- Press: The Dig Boston just posted about bikes for the week. They include four items of interest about bikes; Ride Studio Cafe and or Seven are closely connected to all four of the mentions! I think that’s pretty cool.
- Project: Getting the Seven Cycles sales programs organized for Q3. And iterating some of the key account plans.
- Project: Alt Rock. Testing program pretty close to ready – mainly back on track after being derailed about a dozen times because of other project priorities. Moving too slowly on this project. Such a common situation for me: pressing and important overshadows future and important.

Get off your butt and on a velocipede! Whether you’re a fixie, BMX, beach cruiser, tandem or road racer, enjoy a week full of two-wheeling fun in and out of the city. Use your bike as an excuse to make a difference in the community or to just get out of the city for a couple of hours. This week, we found the best art exhibits, community events, non-profit organizations and cafés for Boston bikers.

The Let’s Talk About Bikes exhibit opening was last night. Amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by what the team from over,under – Mark Pasnik, Keith Lagreze, and Jonathan Hanahan – put together. It was obviously a lot of work and I know some of what they did behind the scenes. And, equally important, they clearly enjoyed bringing this show to life.
I arrived late because I took a circuitous bike route that kept me on dirt, trails, and back alleys for most of the ride from Seven to downtown Boston.
