Time Marker: BIG private event and party at the Studio this evening. A party for Hup United, Seven Cycles, and Ride Studio Cafe. And an introduction of the next generation Honey Bikes.

Friday location: Seven | Studio || 8:10 am – 8:45 pm
- Product Development: The final day of preparing Honey bikes for tomorrow’s unveiling. Only about a week of work left to do before the am.
- Business Development: Working on trip prep for Belgium and the U.K. For the Belgian leg of the trip I’m meeting with Seven’s long-time distributor, a number of magazines, and some of their best customers. It’ll be a packed time. In the U.K. I’m meeting with our key retailers, a number of potential retailers Seven’s been talking with, meeting with other framebuilders, and working on a big project with one of Seven’s retailers. A lot to pack into a few days. Very diverse set of conversations, too. I’ll be bringing a lot of hats.

Thursday location: Seven | Studio || 7:40 am – 9:30 pm
- Business Development: Working on closing the year for three businesses at once. Of course, I’m not doing the hard work, I’m pulling some stuff together and Jennifer is doing the hardest work. And Patria is doing a lot of the preliminary work for Ride Studio Cafe. An amazing year in all three businesses in which I cause trouble.
- Engineering: Honey Race bike deflection tests wrapped up today. Confirmed that these frames are VERY stiff. Hit the target for frame stiffness. It’s always nice when the math on paper works out in the real world. Now for the riding of the Honeys. For some reason we have a good queue of interested test riders.

Wednesday location: Seven | 7:25 am – 10:05 pm
- Press: For Mo Bruno Roy. What a way to end the cyclocross season. A great piece in the Boston Phoenix that features Mo.
- Bike Building Party! First two bikes up: 1) Shimano DA 9000 race bike; 2) SRAM 1×11 mountain trail bike. I want.
- Graphic Design: Worked on the Studio race team kits today. Hoping to get the final design to Craft by this weekend. ‘Hope’ might be the wrong word.
- Consulting: Had a long conversation with an eBike startup today. F.B. We covered a lot of ground – from distribution challenge to the smartest way to build the first 100 bikes. I like that challenge. I’ve been tasked with coming up with a few approaches that could work. Some SWOT analysis where the W’s are someone elses problems for a change.

We’re about to build a Honey Bike with the first SRAM 1×11 kit we’ve received. Had to pull fairly hard to get these parts out of some hands. Bike photos posting soon.

Here are a couple teaser images of the new Shimano Dura Ace 9000. Building a Honey Bike with this kit. Nice looking parts; I’m sure they work just as well as they’re finished.

Tuesday location: Seven | 8:10 am – 10:20 pm
- Important – Food: Working on some savory waffle recipes for a secret project. I think I’ve got the sweet one’s down; it’s the idea of savory that I haven’t completely wrapped my head around. It’s a late night project.
- Production Management: Seven Cycles builds steel, titanium, carbon, and titanium-carbon bikes. Each material requires completely different manufacturing techniques. We’ve got so many of the 622 – titanium combined with carbon – frames going through that we’re having trouble keeping up. Matt O. is doing a great job getting the production team cross-trained so we can build more of them; we’ve doubled 622 production in the past four weeks. Very exciting.
- Business Development: Interesting happenings with Honey Bikes, from a business perspective. All this activity around Honey, the new race bikes, Hup United, and a few other elements is bringing up some unusual possibilities for the season.
- Phoning it In: Posting some Honey Race bike photos is about all the energy I have left this evening. I like pictures a lot more than writing anyway. Photos tonight are all about Honey Bikes. Color onto some frames is always fun to see. A lot more going on – posting more tomorrow.

Monday location: Seven | 7:40 am – 9:15 pm
- Product Development: Making good headway on the Hup Honey project. Three bikes going through production currently. Paint begins tomorrow; that’s when it starts to get interesting.
- Product Development: Honey “Final 200 Meters” Race bike number One is finally in paint. Photos after the fold. Staci and Jordan are both working on it. The new Race Scheme requires eight layers of primer-color-clear. It’s a more complicated scheme than anything Honey has done in the past. I think it’ll be worthwhile though. Staci and I worked on the scheme design and colorways. Hoping to assemble the bike on Thursday.
- Helping: Craft just picked up their tradeshow sign that we helped fix. Hoping it will hold together for a few more years. We’re working on a couple clothing projects with Craft so it’s good that we’re able to help them in return.
