Katsushika Hokusai

I was looking at some of Hokusai‘s work last week because of the Let’s Talk About Bikes exhibit that opens today.

I don’t like to co-opt other cultures in the work we do at Seven Cycles.  However, a transparent and dedicated homage is a bit different.

One of the bikes in the exhibit has Hokusai’s waves as a subtle design element.

Hokusai’s work has become incredibly iconic in the US.  He’s done a lot more than waves but that seems to be what he’s best known for – in U.S. pop culture anyway.  But he also draws a mean puppy.
