Friday location: Seven | 6:10 am – 2:10 pm
- Business Development: The Winter Session has pulled along some projects that Seven developed years ago, including some bike design work that is now really interesting to some retailers that visited. I’ll be posting about these new-old projects soon. It’s always exciting to me when work we’ve done finally clicks with retailers and riders. Sometimes that takes years.
- Time Marker: Lots of snow today. Not a good day to be flying.

Thursday location: Seven | Studio | 7:50 am – 9:50 pm
- Consulting: Trying to be helpful on a suspension bike project for which I don’t have enough time to invest. It’s a really cool project; and I’ll probably passing the fun parts off to someone else – not for Seven Cycles. Details to follow. UHS.
- Note: I’ve been organizing some of my notes from the Seven Winter Session. Lots of great content to put out here. Just have to find the hours.
- Business Development: Seven Company Meeting. Today’s meeting was simple, for a change; we focused on the Winter Session debrief. The number of positives is way too for the negatives. We’ve already seen great tangible results from the session. Met most of our metrics; a few are long-term so time will tell if we hit all of them. Snow, or not, it was a great success.

Wednesday location: Seven | 7:40 am – 7:50 pm
- Words: Lovely Bicycle! wrote a nice piece that includes a moment or two about a Honey bike.
- Words: Belgainwerkx wrote a piece about their visit to Seven Cycles. Great words and photos.
- Product Development: Progress on Seven’s multiple fork projects. Today is disc brake day.
- Testing: Getting to the next round of titanium fatigue testing. Some basice materials testing this time. More on this later.

Nick Moroder of Belgainwerkx just posted a great piece about his trip to Seven Cycles’ Winter Session.
A few highlights from Nick’s thoughts:
“[…] relatively small manufacturing space that has turned out 25,000 custom bikes.
“Only one person is responsible for cutting, bending, and butting each tube for a single bike before handing a box to the welder. They make each bike individually, giving each builder a sense of pride and responsibility for his work.
“Tim has probably welded more Titanium bikes than maybe anyone in the world. He’s head welder at Seven and has taught many others his craft. I could talk about how Seven uses “best practices” to increase fatigue life, how they carefully check alignment, or how each welder completes each bike from metal prep to completion… but I’ll let the quality of work speak for itself.
“What we noticed even more was the pride and respect each Seven employee has for their craft.

The title of Lovely Bicycle!’s post today is so apt for my life at the moment: Dreaming of Balance.
If I had time to dream I think it would be of balance. Okay, maybe it would be a dream about riding – as her latest post is.
A few quick excerpts:
“I get a rush from the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere, wandering through the woods on my own. I was riding the Honey cyclocross bike, its toy-like handling accentuating my high. Hopping, successfully, over a cluster of tree roots, I let out a giddy squeal. It resonated through the empty woods like a metallic ring. As if in reply, I heard the shrill sound of a bird somewhere in the distance. Marco! Polo! Ours were the only voices in the woods.
“I only remember it now, because I dreamt about it last night. Not the crash, but the ride leading up to it.
“Then the moment came when I realised it had all been a dream, and a wave of disappointment washed over me. I wanted to be as in touch with my body’s sense of balance in real life as I was in the dream.
“[…] the dream made it feel imperative that I go out and try to recreate the balancing act.”
