Pan Deng | Portrait of a Dog

June 4, 2012

in Curated, Ephemera

He’s a good boy.

From the auction site:

” […] famed Contemporary artist […] Pan Deng […] capturing mood through a black and white-based palette that he feels illuminates the “soul” of his subjects. Pan seeks to isolate subjects that have deep meaning to him.

“Born one of three brothers to a family of police officers in Nanjing, during the start of the Cultural Revolution, a career as an artist was not encouraged. Painting was a path Pan Deng had to pursue on his own. At an early age he found that he possessed a skill for painting that made him stand out among his peers. His work is celebrated in China, and has been the subject of important solo and group exhibitions for over a decade.”

Thank you Shelton.
