Show Bike: Newsboy with hand made springer fork and a 2-Speed kickback hub
Matt O’Keefe reminded me of the date on a very cool show bike we built. Matt writes, “the Newsboy with the 2spd kickback and Ti springer for was made in 1993 for the Interbike show.”
This was a really fun show bike project. I designed the fork from scratch and we made all the parts in house except for the titanium spring. We actually had the spring from a box of scraps that Gary (?) got from somewhere. The fork was fully functioning. I wish I had some good photos of it. It was one of the funnest projects on which I’ve worked.
I seem to recall that it’s still in Italy at Race Ware. It may have made it’s way back to the States.
Photo from Kalimoto. Although I’m 95% certain that photo was taken at Merlin’s factory in Cambridge in 1993.
